While visiting windmills during Open Monument Day in The Netherlands, I found a with something I hadn't seen before. An elevator for grain!

It's of course powered by the windmill, and it connects to a silo in the windmill which can hold a ton of grain.

At the top of the elevator, the miller could choose if the grain went into the silo or into the mill.

Inside a wooden hollow tube, there's a band with little buckets attached to it.
