This week, a fault in the #electricity grid energised the "earth" line to my house and gave me a pretty impressive zap (but no superpowers).

Here's my current working hypothesis about what caused the #accident:

MS Paint-grade illustration how a series of problems might have worked together to make Dan's oven dangerously energised: 1. A problem at a nearby transformer intermittently linked live to earth, but this didn't cause a problem because a redundant earth spike for a now-removed generator in Dan's garage kept the system safe. 2. As part of loft conversion work, the garage's electrics are declared unsafe and disconnected from the main house. 3. The grid problem manifests while Dan is in the kitchen, energising the earth line (so affecting even appliances isolated by circuit breakers) and zapping Dan via the metal case of the oven. The illustration is presented in a comic style and includes a deer wandering around the garden and a sparrowhawk flying above, as well as various family members around the house.

@dan In the picture, I think you're very wrong about one thing. I think that deer knows EXACTLY what's going on.
