2 - I'm currently attempting to shorten some curtains I bought. I am using safety pins and fabric glue. I saw her do it, but didn't pay much attention and wasn't really interested in learning at the time. I do t have a sewing machine, nor friends or family with the skills for this. I'm really just learning as I go.

We'll see how horrible this turns out.
Stay tuned!

#carpentry #climate #handyman Today I installed 3 pieces of wood that I custom ripped with a bevel using a skillsaw. Yes, a table saw would have been easier and a bandsaw for that matter, but I don't have those. The finish cuts were made with a Japanese handsaw. These pieces go at the bottom of a jalousie glass louver window. I removed all the window air conditioning units, except for 1 in a small room that does not have cross ventilation. So, I had to rebuild the jalousies as they were "maimed" to insert the units.

Cleaned the jamb with a putty knife, then sanded it down. Laid down a bead of windowtrim sealant, plopped my board into place (notched to fit at each end), and then carefully nailed in 4 places to secure it. Used a "nailset" tool and a hammer to hide the finishing nailheads, then caulked over it. In a week, after it cures, I can primer and paint. Thus I am undoing wasteful A/C and restoring the house. Since its barely 70 degrees F and breezy, the house, without a/c, is as cold as the computer room/office where I work. Cool enough.
