Raphaël Bastide<p>I am trying to offer a 2010 ipad a second life with PHP&nbsp;and webdav / nextcloud. Not an easy task as I feel like a golden retriever looking at his reflection in front of a webdav API documentation.<br>It is impossible to install new apps on the old iOS, almost impossible to use the https web, the built-in web browser with insecure http is the last door remaining open of a very closed hard and software. My goal is to create a very basic access to nextcloud files so I can make it a media center. Any experience, help welcome.<br><a href="https://stackoverflow.com/questions/79500163/webdav-listing-files-and-folder" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">stackoverflow.com/questions/79</span><span class="invisible">500163/webdav-listing-files-and-folder</span></a><br><a href="https://post.lurk.org/tags/recomputer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>recomputer</span></a> <a href="https://post.lurk.org/tags/permacomputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>permacomputing</span></a> <a href="https://post.lurk.org/tags/oldipad" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>oldipad</span></a> <a href="https://post.lurk.org/tags/nextcloud" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nextcloud</span></a></p>
Problem FoxI need a bigger media drive, but can't afford one right now.<br><br>After a week of looking at new drives today my brain suddenly realised that I should just repurpose the 8TB drive currently used for Mac TimeMachine backups. I've never used TimeMachine to recover lost data, and have separate on-site and off-site backup plans already. <br><br>Well that'll save some cash.<br><br><a class="hashtag" href="https://corteximplant.net/tag/repurposereuserepair" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#RepurposeReuseRepair</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://corteximplant.net/tag/permacomputing" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#permacomputing</a> <a class="hashtag" href="https://corteximplant.net/tag/practicalsolarpunk" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#practicalSolarpunk</a>
Sampsa Kiianmaa<p>Ehdin mä tänään kävelylläkin käydä, mutta muuten päivä on mennyt <a href="https://blogi.social/tags/GeminiProtocol" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>GeminiProtocol</span></a> lia opiskellessa. Kunnon <a href="https://blogi.social/tags/solarpunk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>solarpunk</span></a> ja <a href="https://blogi.social/tags/permacomputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>permacomputing</span></a> meno. </p><p>Gemini protocol toimii siis kuten netti, mutta eri protokollalla. Sivut ovat hyvin hyvin simppeleitä. <a href="https://blogi.social/tags/smallweb" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>smallweb</span></a> on se juttu. Kirjoittelen asiasta varmaan myöhemmin blogiin jotkut tee-näin-ohjeet joilla voi mahdollisimman yksinkertaisesti perustaa oman Gemini-sivun, eiku kapselin.</p><p><a href="https://medium.com/erus-encodia/creating-your-own-gemini-server-part-1-what-is-the-gemini-protocol-cf497477c4d" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">medium.com/erus-encodia/creati</span><span class="invisible">ng-your-own-gemini-server-part-1-what-is-the-gemini-protocol-cf497477c4d</span></a></p>

#introduction
TLDR: 🫥 🚲 🎶 🌲
Trop souvent: 🌊⛵🌩️

Looking for nice software to selfhost on very moderate hardware these days is like:
"add this to your kubernetes cluster // terraform something....// This is your docker compose file..."

I just want an efficient program, bare metal, also not three reverse proxys in a row.
And also I'm not running some supercluster in the "cloud".
Seems everyone virtualizes everything and abstracts everything, containers in containers in VMs. Even "normal" mastodon hosters, I mean I understand if people use it for running something like running Instagram, OK.
And then many still have quite often some downtime because (I guess?) in all this complexity, that exists to add reliability, there are config errors or incompatibilities.

I Love I've found snac and the prosody xmpp server, they run on a potato, snac only since this year, prosody since 10y, started on a raspberrypi1b. And they have no downtime. I want more like that. I don't know the right Hashtags. Is this #permacomputing? I guess that's even much more basic and closer to the hardware?

Tomorrow evening in Paris, in the context of #permacomputing meetings, will take place the first ever workshop on dyne.org/cjit the compact and portable C compiler based on the work by Fabrice Bellard. Thanks to the RYBN collective for hosting me!

&&
