Sadly between #Firefox marketshare and #Mozilla doing.... whatever, i'm making the transition to Chrome from Firefox as the primary browser.
In my line of work , I need to regularly see what my customers see for better or for worse. Adding precautions but Firefox and Safari will still be used. I'd rather not deal w/ Brave.
I can hear pitchhooks been sharpened already. I'm posting this mainly so when i look back in davidbisset.social I can see when i did this.
@davidbisset have a look at #Vivaldi. It's based on chromium. The company is clean.
@davidbisset What are your thoughts on DuckDuckGo as a personal use browser? I appreciate we need others to review/test.
@liamdempsey @davidbisset from what I've read, DuckDuckGo is just a skin over an existing browser. On Windows, for exemple, it's using Edge. On Mac, Safari.
@s1r83r @liamdempsey @davidbisset Hey! I heard someone say “DuckDuckGo” and I got notified DuckDuckGo is a browser built using WebView2 for Windows, Webview for Android, and WKWebView for iOS and macOS. This thread answers it really well: https://www.reddit.com/r/duckduckgo/comments/1j0514q/ddg_browser_is_edge_based/
@davidbisset Another plus one for @Vivaldi. It’s aggressively un-Googled Chromium, no crypto, no AI, and a thriving community that they actually listen to.
@davidbisset I use Chrome as primary and then a mix of other browsers as alternates. There are many great browsers out there, fun to experiment.
@davidbisset Also check out LibreWolf, which is a custom more private version of Firefox https://librewolf.net
They do all they can to milk their remaining users
