it is really funny to me to see americans pretend like their system doesn't account for how to deal with trump

hint: it just happened in south korea, oh it turns out their military isn't just for toppling democratically elected leaders abroad?

@ekis who is supposed to hold Trump accountable?

- the military doesn't operate domestically
- the Secret Service is his
- the FBI isn't gonna turn on him
- the DHS, ATF, CIA, and NSA aren't relevant here

Who?

The DC police? Virginia National Guard? Virginia State police?

It's kinda weird I'm not sure who would execute warrants and arrests if it came to that

@feld @ekis It would have to be Congress, since the president controls law enforcement and the military.

@ramsey @ekis from what I can gather it's actually the US Marshalls who would arrest high ranking officials in the Executive branch.

But who leads them? A guy Trump just put in a week ago lol

Ben Ramsey

@feld @ekis They’re still under the DOJ, right? So, ultimately, they answer to the president. Since Trump signed an EO designating most federal employees as “political,” he can pretty much fire whomever he wants.

@feld @ekis I dunno. I’m pretty negative right now. It’s hard to have hope when you’re chronically depressed on top of all this. *waves arms wildly*

@ramsey @ekis this is like the dysfunction we had over the "drones" in Jersey everyone was freaking out about

Who has authority?

States, Counties and Cities don't have jurisdiction.

DOD can’t investigate on US soil.

FBI has no jurisdiction in the sky

:sadwave:
@feld @ekis @ramsey these agencies all work in tandem at different stages of the investigation
