NordVPN still a good choice?
Giving NordVPN a try. They also accept bitcoin for those that want that.
@outofcontrol I wouldn’t mind finding out as well. I dropped ExpressVPN like a hot potato (I still have time as it runs until January I think) and I am looking.
@Bowreality Awesome! I dropped VyprVPN when I discovered it was bought by a shadowy USA company. I've been using our own VPN via our house when away for awhile, but that is not quite as friendly to setup and use for the rest of the family.
@outofcontrol Actually it’s not US why I cancelled but because it’s super expensive. They charge in USD and that makes it even pricier.
@outofcontrol mullvad is the best option, I think. Swedish + pretty simple pricing. Seems very privacy oriented where you just get an account number and that’s your account, no email signup etc. lets you pay with crypto or cash via mail if you are into that, heh.
@bjornbjorn They literally accept cash! This looks intersting. Need to research a bit more.
I've got this jar of pennies I've been meaning to use up.
@bjornbjorn mullvad seems to pale on comparison with nordvpn in speed, robustness and support. Excels privacy only from a payment perspective, which lets one be 100% anonymous. Not sure I need that level of privacy.
@outofcontrol yeah, might be overkill. I would also check out ProtonVPN while you’re doing these comparisons. But tbf you probably can’t go wrong with either, and Nord is also European and pro-so
@bjornbjorn Staying away from proton. Bad experience last time I used them. Canada or European is fine. Prefer EU for better privacy laws.
@outofcontrol thanks for the heads up, I have been looking into their suite for email etc. Was the issue with the VPN?
@bjornbjorn Free trial actually. I tried their mail services but given how many mail boxes I have it wasn’t a good fit. I canceled several days before the trial period ended and they charged me all the same. I ended up having to argue over a few emails to get reimbursed.
@outofcontrol it works well for me
@outofcontrol Let me know how it goes?
@outofcontrol Just see that Windscribe is a Canadian VPN. I’ll have to check them out.
