Before i shut this off (a little less $$$ paid to DigitalOcean) I wanted to share the only site that celebrated #WordPress 19th anniversary (not even the official WP did one - maybe focused on the 20th).
Had everyone from @photomatt and @mikelittle and sponsors and the whole nine yards.
@davidbisset Hello, David! How much it costs? Maybe I could move it to one of my VPS among other sites of mine. Are you interested?
@davidbisset
How much traffic does it get? I would be interested in helping keep it online.
I would likely export it to a static site and throw it on a CDN.
I've done it to a couple where the author has retired or even, in one case, died.
@mikelittle @marcoandrei honestly it’s probably something like 5 to 8 dollars a month with DigitalOcean. In fact in the domain name renewal. It’s mostly a “one less thing to worry about“ scenario for me as I’m cleaning out some of my side projects. I could export it as a static page. I guess, just a question of where and how to do that in if the domain name stays.
@davidbisset @marcoandrei
Yeah, I get that. That's why I have been exporting old friends and family sites that never get updated to static. That way I no longer have to keep wordpress or servers up to date. I've been using bunny CDN and it costs pennies per month. Actually it costs a minimum of $1 per month but I've yet to go over that for about 20 sites!
