Interesting. Kind of similar to #Mastodon but I think (at first glance anyway) more readable.
Domain Names as Handles in #Bluesky:

I haven't gotten access yet but i want to give it a try.
@davidbisset hmm, lovely now we have a competing and incompatible "federated" protocol from #ActivityPub. I don't understand why they couldn't have just built on top of ActivityPub?
@davidbisset reading through this to get a better sense of why they didn't use #ActivityPub . https://atproto.com/guides/faq
@davidbisset I actually don't agree with their idea that users should be references by a full domain name instead of the pattern that #ActivityPub uses which is very familiar just like an email address.
@davidbisset in the end I feel like #Bluesky is taking things out of the #Apple playbook where "we are using open protocols/technology" yet they have implemented into a walled garden, or tacked on proprietary things that segregate people. Like the the whole #BlueDot vs #GreenDot crap with text messaging.
@tim I honestly don't know that much about it outside of what it claims. That's why I want to try it. That blog post though I think how it's showing it makes things a little easier especially if you aren't used to #Mastodon and #Fediverse. Doesn't mean it's on a holy path, but like I tend to avoid a "why don't they just use WordPress" thinking - I think this needs to play out more. This could turn out to be nothing or something.
